*All Items below are eligible for the Residential Clean Energy Credit!

Shop with Battery Bill and take advantage of the Residential Clean Energy Credit before the credit ends Dec 2025!

  • The credit covers 30% of the cost of new, qualified residential clean energy property installed from 2022 through 2032. Starting in 2033, it drops to 26%, and in 2034, to 22%,
  • No annual or lifetime dollar limits—except for fuel cell property, which has its own cap.
  • It’s a nonrefundable credit, but any unused portion can be carried forward to future years.
  • Homeowners or renters can claim the credit for improvements made to their primary residence. Existing and newly constructed homes are both eligible.
  • Landlords or business-only properties do not qualify. If a property is used for mixed purposes, the credit is prorated based on nonbusiness usage:
  • Up to 20% business use: full credit allowed
  • More than 20% business use: credit reduced accordingly
  • Eligible expenses include costs for new clean energy installations such as:
  • Solar electric panels
  • Solar water heaters
  • Wind turbines
  • Geothermal heat pumps
  • Fuel cells
  • Battery storage (starting in 2023)
  • Labor costs for assembly, installation, and necessary wiring or piping are also included.
  • Used or previously owned equipment does not qualify.
  • Certain structural components (like standard roofing materials) don’t qualify—but solar shingles or tiles that both generate energy and act as the roof do qualify.
  1. Ensure eligibility and that your property is placed in service within allowable years.
  2. Purchase and install qualified property.
  3. Keep documentation—receipts and installation records—for your records; they aren’t filed with your return but may be required if audited.
  4. File IRS Form 5695 (“Residential Energy Credits”) when you submit your federal income tax return for the applicable year.
